“Fishing”
it’s dark
all the boat’s lights shine through the blackness
I can see the sun rising over the water
I hear the low murmur of the boat as we head out
the splashing of water on the side of the boat
the motor slowly gets louder as we pass the pier heads
woosh!
the 30 degree water sprays over the boat chilling my body
we settle down after the lines are set
zing!
I grab the rod
Tragedy
I climb up the stairs to the metal Mt. Everest
I reach the top
overjoyed I throw my hands in the air
I lose my balance and fall
fall down the path less taken
I hear my mother scream
I feel warm liquid pouring out of my head
we rush to the doctor
I return home
a year goes by
I never see the slide again
I feel happy and sad at the same time
such good and bad memories
River
pebbles rocks and boulders now weightless
the raging river hurling everything downstream
taking the course of a winding road
off the cliffs and through the canyons
suddenly everything stops
you reached the lake
Anger
tensed muscles
yelling
wrincled forehead
red face
uncontrolled actions
everything speeds up
you “solve” the problem
so you thought
Race
speed
grinding metal
clashing gears
engine spool up
roar of the exhaust
these are the things that thrill me about racing
Nature
beauty untouched by man’s terrible ways
left at peace
calm and relaxed
no anger
no sadness
how could you feel anything but happiness
when you are in Earth’s natural beauty
it’s dark
all the boat’s lights shine through the blackness
I can see the sun rising over the water
I hear the low murmur of the boat as we head out
the splashing of water on the side of the boat
